Scenario and variant: operating instructions
In a scenario, all the data needed to launch a calculation in steady or unsteady flow are defined. Variant (of a scenario) will allow to overwrite some parameters of the scenario while keeping the data as a reference scenario for all non-modified settings.
Changing the settings modified by the variant is only possible in the variable management table.
The following table defines where items of the hydraulic mode can be set: | Item | Scenario | Variant | | Calculation settings: | < | < | | –> Steady or Unsteady flow | X | | | –> Time | X | | | –> Results writing | X | | | –> General settings | X | | | Nodes description: | < | < | | –> Create, delete offtakes | X | | | –> State of the offtake (Active / Inactive) | X | X | | –> Modify the type of the downstream boundary condition | X | | | –> Modify water elevation or discharge of downstream boundary condition | X | X | | –> Create, delete, modify type of devices at offtakes | X | | | –> Modify characteristics of devices (width, sill elevation, opening…) | X | X | | Cross-structures description: | < | < | | –> Create, delete, modify type of devices | X | | | –> Modify characteristics of devices (width, sill elevation, opening…) | X | X | | Roughness (Manning) and infiltrations | X | |
As an unsteady flow calculation requires an initial condition, it is advisable to perform the various simulations (steady and one or more unsteady flow) in a scenario and create a variant by unsteady flow simulation you want to perform.
